NORTHGATE SHOPPING CENTRE

Welcome to the first blog on our new and improved Northgate Shopping Centre website. Our main objective when creating this website was to make it as user friendly as possible, both to our customers and tenants alike. Our vision is for the website to be a gateway of communication and information that is convenient and easy to access.

Broll is the di facto manager of Northgate Shopping Centre and was handed the reins in October 2009. We are grateful to the co-owners Sasol Pension Fund and Growthpoint Properties for their trust in us and believe that we will be able to take the centre to the next level of excellence. Since October 2009 a new management team and various new contractors were appointed to better the service to you our valued customers. In this matter we recognize the importance of security in the current volatile economic conditions coupled with the effect of crime in the country as a whole and Gauteng in particular. We employed the services of a very well run security company and particularly use their expertise in crime prevention, whilst still creating a friendly and comfortable environment to shop in. Serious incidents such as armed robberies and car theft have been cut to a minimum and in certain categories crime is now non- existent in Northgate Shopping Centre.

Marketing

As a well established super regional mall, Northgate Shopping Centre is well patronized currently as it has been over the last 18 years. The major attraction to the centre is and will always be the nearly 200 shops ranging from the 22 000 Sqm Pick & Pay Hyper to the smallest units some of only 15 Sqm i.e. King Pie’s newest addition to open soon (15 June 2010) in the entertainment section of the Mall.  A wonderful tenant mix has been established over the years; which makes for excellent comparative shopping through catering for young and old alike. It is management’s prerogative to constantly better the tenant mix in the interest of our customer. One of our major attractions is the well patronized Ice Rink that draws thousands of youngsters especially over weekends and school holidays. Centre Management, the owners and management of the ice rink keep a strong working relationship to ensure that a clean and safe environment is maintained whilst still allowing the young folk to have fun.

The Dome

The Coco Cola Dome at Northgate is still one of the major event venues in South Africa and hosts large event like the Home expo as well as rock concerts i.e. the recent Deep Purple, Uriah Heep concerts. Although the Dome is run independently, certain synergies exist and cross pollination of clientele is evident. The restaurants and certain other retailers benefit hugely when the Dome have events and see an upswing in their business.
